Phase I Recovery typically lasts 6 months (175 days). As a new Recovery Resident, we encourage you to take ownership of your journey. Your progression and milestones matter, and this phase may be extended based on your commitment to growth and development of character.
Phase II Life Training lasts about 4 months (125 days). This isn’t just about time—it’s about transformation. You’re being prepared for ministry, business, or a career beyond the program. Stay connected in godly community, grow in character, and pursue excellence led by the Holy Spirit.
Phase III Internship (Ministry or Business) is 8 months (250 days). You’ll serve in leadership roles—mentoring others, assisting in operations, and growing through hands-on ministry. This phase requires humility, teamwork, and spiritual maturity as you develop a servant-hearted, excellent spirit.
Heritage House is a residential, therapeutic community for young men who are passionately committed to true recovery—not the recovery of a former life, but the discovery of a new one designed by God. We do not believe in returning to the past; we believe in building a future through Christ.
You are not a victim. You are not worthless. You are not hopeless. But for a long time, poor decisions—often driven by drug and chemical addiction—may have ruled your life. The enemy of your soul seeks to destroy you, and the statistics speak for themselves: in America, someone dies every 16 minutes from an overdose.
But there is hope. There is a future. It is found in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Experts agree that a full transformation takes time—12 to 18 months of zero opiate or narcotic use to truly regain healthy decision-making, cognitive function, and self-control. Heritage House offers a long-term path to lasting change.
At Heritage House, we are committed to spiritual awakening and complete life transformation. Residents engage in pastoral counseling, church involvement, worship, prayer, and biblical teaching. We also help navigate legal needs—assisting with pending court cases, license suspensions, probation requirements, and fines. Our goal is for every resident to leave with a clean legal slate and a transparent life that’s prepared to re-enter society with integrity.
In partnership with our affiliated outreach, Hope Over America, residents help lead major community events across the country. This service includes large-scale logistics, stage setup, and outreach support—while also giving back to others still battling addiction. It’s an opportunity to be a living example of successful recovery and to walk alongside others in their journey toward freedom.
We also offer scholarships, rental assistance, job training, and career placement to young men who demonstrate long-term commitment and excellence. At Heritage House, we believe in second chances—and in the power of Jesus Christ to Change Your Life for Good®.
PHASE I — RECOVERY Duration: ~6 Months (175–180 days)
Weekly Stipend: $20 (after first 30 days)
Phase I focuses on stabilization, recovery, and spiritual renewal through structure, accountability, and Work Therapy. Residents are fully immersed in daily programming while developing essential character traits such as work ethic, urgency, cooperation, communication, teamwork, self-control, and teachability. Progress is evaluated daily by supervisors, and residents attend Bible studies as participants. After the first 30 days, residents may have weekly family visits and one approved 8-hour pass per month. Off-site activity is limited to court-ordered or approved medical needs, and cell phone use is not permitted. Tobacco use is allowed during this phase. Residents are also required to complete readings including Wild at Heart and Beautiful Outlaw by John Eldredge, along with written reflections. Phase I may be extended as needed, and advancement is based on demonstrated growth, consistency, and ownership of personal progress.
PHASE II — TRAINEE Duration: ~6 Months (175–180 days)
Weekly Stipend: $20–$35
Phase II emphasizes life training and preparation for leadership, ministry, or vocational employment. Residents are expected to continue growing in character, work ethic, and accountability while actively preparing for their future calling. This phase includes a formal 90-day assessment to evaluate strengths, areas for growth, and next steps, along with ongoing pastoral counseling. Residents are given increased privileges, including weekly family visits, one 8-hour pass per month, and eligibility for a 24-hour pass after nine total months in the program. Additional off-site privileges and extended free time may be earned through consistency and trust. Tobacco use is still permitted. Leadership development becomes a key focus, with opportunities to lead Bible studies, pray publicly, share testimonies, serve in ministry settings, and operate ministry vehicles if qualified. Required coursework includes The Power of Passionate Intent by Dr. Mark Chironna, Signature of God by Grant Jeffrey, and the Dave Ramsey Financial Freedom curriculum. Advancement from this phase is based on readiness and may lead to Phase III or an approved leadership or employment pathway.
PHASE III — MINISTRY INTERN / RESIDENT LEADER Duration: Variable (Invitation Only)
Phase III is designed for leadership, ministry service, and transition into long-term vocational direction. Residents in this phase are held to a higher standard of conduct and are expected to lead by example for those in earlier phases. They actively serve in leadership roles within the house, ministry opportunities, or approved employment positions. With this increased responsibility comes expanded privileges, including the use of a personal cell phone (at the resident’s expense), permission for a personal TV within house guidelines, and greater off-site freedom. Tobacco use is no longer permitted in this phase. Entry into Phase III is by invitation only and is based on consistent excellence in character, accountability, spiritual growth, and approval from leadership.
